Intermediate FileMaker

Course Description

This class is for those already familiar with FileMaker Pro and seeking to expand their knowledge to develop more sophisticated solutions for their business.

Who Should Attend?

This class is for those already familiar with FileMaker Pro and seeking to expand their knowledge to develop more sophisticated solutions for their business. You'll explore detailed handouts (useful later for reference), participate in active discussions and try out what you learn on the computer.

You'll find out how to design your database to make it easy for other folks to use, improving your layouts, creating portals to bring in data from related fields and running scripts and calculations. And you will get to ask about your specific interests.

We will examine all of the different kinds of fields and field options available. We will create calculation fields and use the calculation engine in other parts of the database throughout the course. We will cover all aspects of layout design and explore the many tools that FileMaker makes available for you to design a rich user interface, such as conditional formatting, tooltips and tab controls.

You will be introduced to scripts and you will create summary reports that will help convert your raw data into meaningful information. We will also discuss how relational databases work, how to plan a relational database and how to translate your planning into a FileMaker solution. This class is perfect for users who need to start adding features to an existing system or developers who are relatively new to FileMaker Pro.

What You Will Learn
